Novice AE Gold, Travel Teams, 2014-2015 (LaSalle Minor Hockey Association)

Talk about a dream season.... This collection of first year travel hockey players have far exceeded our goals for the year. On the ice; they were fast, skilled and tough to match. As buddies; they've created friendships that will last for years. In the community; they put the needs of others in above their own.  The Sabres entered 4 tournaments and placed no lower than 3rd. They placed 3rd in the OMHA play downs.  Countless team parties for both players and parents have made for some great weekends. A truckload of canned goods to the LaSalle food bank made us all proud ...

    As parents we are of course proud when our son or daughter scores the big goal, makes a great pass or comes up with a huge save. However, I have yet to be as proud of my son and his team as I was last night. Last night, the Novice AE Gold team conducted a can drive to help support the LaSalle Food Bank. It was a huge success. A truck load of cans were delivered to the LaSalle Food Bank this morning.

Well that makes 4 for 4. The Sabres played great hockey all weekend and made it to their 4th straight tournament semi final. This is no small feat boys.  In the semi, we ran up against the home team of Belle River and just wasn't our day. Giving up the go ahead goal with under a minute to go. The Sabres finished the game attacking the Belle River net but couldn't sneak one past the net minder. The class and friendship show to each other in the dressing room after a tough loss was inspiring to say the least. We coaches are all proud to be a part of this unique team. Coach Todd.

Tomorrow starts our Sabres Gear Fundraiser! Thank you to all those who volunteered to work at the booth this weekend and next.  Here's hoping the fundraiser is a success!!

The Sabres traveled up the 401 to Dorchester this weekend. Facing a full list of tough new teams the Sabres needed to play top level hockey to compete. Boy did they!

The Sabres traveled up to Grimsby On for a tough tourney this weekend.  This was our first out of town tourney and it was great to see the boys hanging out off the ice. The boys and parents we treated to a fantastic birthday party put on by the Lewis family. Happy Bday AJ.    The team made it to the semi finals and ran into a red hot goalie for the Hamilton team. Sabres out shot Hamilton 30-10 but could get enough pucks past the goalie to pull it out. Hamilton went on to win the tourney in the finals. Congrats Hamilton.  Great weekend on and off the ice for the Novice AE ...

Thanks to everyone who supported the raffle. It was a HUGE success. Big thank you to the Lewis family who oversaw the raffle.  The draw was held last night at Vollmer after our game. The winners are: Collectible Memorabilia - won by Jason Robinson (ticket sold by Adam's) Bed and Breakfast - won by Al Mifflin (sold by Lewis's) Zetterberg Jersey - Troy Sajatovich (sold by Seguin's) Red Wings Suite - John Ford (sold by Ford's) Congrats to the winners! and thanks again to all who contributed prizes.

The LaSalle Sabres Novice AE Gold Team was is top form all weekend at the Essex Early Bird Tourney.  With wins over Kent, Streetsville and even an OT winner in the Semi final vs. Windsor the Sabres had the parents group and fans on the edge of their seats. In the finals, the Sabres ran up against The Milton Winterhawks once again. The Winterhawks were the better team this weekend and deserved the championship. The Sabres congratulate Milton and we are hopeful we'll get to play each other again this season.   Great Tourney and weekend Sabres!!! Coach Todd.
