Letter to LMHA Families (LaSalle Minor Hockey Association)

PrintLetter to LMHA Families

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The LMHA aims to foster a healthy active living environment that develops quality hockey players, quality people, unforgettable experiences and the skills to create success in life through the game of hockey.

As a parent, your commitment means that in addition to providing your child with the amazing gift of hockey and memories that will last a lifetime, you are also committing to upholding the values set out by LMHA.

To ensure success for all involved, LMHA and all of its participants are expected to promote the following core values:

*SAFETY
*FUN FOR ALL
*PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
*DEVELOPMENT OF HOCKEY SKILLS AND HOCKEY KNOWLEDGE
*RESPECT, TRUTH, HONESTY AND INTEGRITY
*TEAMWORK
*FAIRNESS
*GOODWILL
*BENEFICIAL OUTCOMES

The well being of our players are the first priority for all of us; promoting the core values is one way we can work together in partnership to ensure that your son or daughter has a fun and enjoyable experience this year.

By now you have likely read the Code of Conduct. We invite you to reference it periodically throughout the year. Adhering to the items laid out in the Code of Conduct will help to provide a positive experience for your team as a whole.

Throughout the season please be mindful that parents, players and coaches are representing LMHA and the town of LaSalle. Whether at home or away we ask that you exemplify our kind and caring community to the best of your ability. An easy way to do this is to follow the R.O.O.T.S. philosophy that LMHA has adopted.

R.O.O.T.S. = Respect for the Rules, Opponents, Officials,Teammates and Self.

Rules: We follow the rules and refuse to bend or break them
to win.

*Opponents: We exemplify sportsmanship both on and off the ice.
We value our opponents and take a 'fierce yet friendly attitude into competition.

*Officials: We show respect to the officials, even when we disagree with them. We respect that theirs is a
difficult job and we abide by their judgment.

*Teammates: We encourage and support our teammates. We foster a positive environment and promote inclusion. We
behave in a way that our teammates are proud of and we would never do anything to embarrass them.

*Self: We live up to the ROOTS philosophy, even when others do not. We represent ourselves the best way
we can. We remember to always have fun!

LMHA takes our reputation as an organization seriously and we ask that all members do the same. Adhering to the ROOTS philosophy will ensure that our good name is upheld and lay the groundwork for a successful season.

HOW DO WE DEFINE A SUCCESSFUL SEASON?

Let us not define our success only by our number of wins, but rather by the number of great experiences the game of hockey offers us; and with a balanced perspective, remember that having fun, playing fair, being respectful, showing integrity, and solid teamwork are the true markers of success.

Lastly, thank you to all the coaches and volunteers who take time from their own busy schedules to share their skills and expertise with the players. We wish you great success by all definitions for the coming season.

Enjoy!
