The U13's headed to South Bend, Indiana as reigning 2022 Champions! A few new faces, some new jerseys, but the same competitiveness from our team proved to be too much to handle for the teams from New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Ontario.
The team came out flying on Friday with a great team effort. Saturday morning proved to be more of a struggle, playing at the 7:30am time slot with the bounces not going our way. The team was able to lock in one of the Tier 1 semi-final slots for Saturday night after finishing round robin play with a 3-1 record. After trailing 5-4, the team was able to respond almost immediately and tie the game, sending it to overtime. Quickly in extra time, the team was able to solidify their spot in the Championship game with a great effort around the net, to bang in the game winner. Sunday morning, the kids were in a different mindset after drawing the home team, Irish Rovers, in the final matchup. The players were determined and showed their best play of the young season, with dominate play in the defensive end, as well as brilliant display in the offensive zone with a relentless forecheck. The group was able to dominate play with a 4-0 win to secure their back-to-back Irish Cup titles.
