Cancer Benefit game against Little Ceasars
The Peewee Minor AA team traveled to Michigan on Halloween morning to play a cancer benefit game against the Little Ceasars 2005 AAA team.
Prior to the highly competitive 4-3 loss, the team took part in pregame festivities, which included an auction, the singing of the two National anthems and a ceremonial opening faceoff where both teams each had a Hockey mom cancer survivor drop the opening puck. The Sabres raised $1000.00 for the cause through a bake sale of cupcakes made by the players and through doing chores at home.
Overall, the Little Ceasars 2005 AAA team donated approximately $11000.00 to two Cancer Foundations in Michigan. It was a great demonstration of teamwork and solidarity across the border in fighting against Cancer while playing the great game of hockey!
The benefit game was also featured in a story on Detroit Fox 2 Sports News.
The Peewee Minor team would like to say a special thank you to all LMHA family members who purchased our cupcakes at the Vollmer.
