Wendy's Classic Champs.
The Atom Minor AA team headed to Lansing Michigan this weekend for the Wendy's Classic.
Our emphasis this season was to become a team that passed the puck better than our opponents. Well, at the end of our 4th game the referee made our coaches day. He skated over and told us "that was the best passing game I've ever seen from a 9 year old team" The coaches couldn't be prouder.
On Friday night our families got a chance to go hang out together and watch some excellent hockey at Michigan State vs. North Dakota NCAA game.
Back on the ice, the boys found their scoring touch and advanced to the finals with a 4-0 record. Once in the finals, the boys "seized the opportunity" and captured their first championship of the season with a 5-2 win.
A special side note of accomplishment goes out to our whole team. Each of the 15 skaters on our team has scored a goal and both goalies have had a shut out this year. This goal was identified in the summer and to see if happen means we're playing hockey the right way. Puck movement!
I'd love to include some pictures from the team parties and parent/animals get together but I fear this might break the internet.
