The Georgian Bay Islanders hosted their first annual early
bird tournament September 19-21, 2025 and the 2016s are the first ever U10A
Champions of the tournament.
The Sabres U10A Team is a newly combined group consisting of
returning Sabres and new additions from other centres. Together, they found their groove and swept
the tournament with an undefeated record. It was an unbelieve experience for the players
and their families.
Puck movement, player positioning and hard back pressure
from all forwards combined with smart defensive play had locals commenting
“that’s quite a team you have there!” and the coaches couldn’t agree more.

Right Winger Caden Bartlett earned a reputation this
tournament as a playmaker as well as a shooter who continues to impress the
coaching staff with his upward development, ability to read the game and apply coaching
direction and advice. He earned the
final player of the game for the tournament after being in the conversation almost
every game.
The coaching staff would be remiss if the goaltenders Adam
Dobosz and Hailey Roach were not mentioned in this article as they kept the
puck out of the net allowing only 6 goals all tournament. Both goalies
demonstrate leadership and dependability.
Each and every player showed commitment, growth and heart
this tournament and lived our team’s motto of Heart over Hype. The coaching staff is impressed with this
group of players and we’re looking forward to an unforgettable season on and
off the ice….. “L.A. FIRE….”!
