Re: Follow-up to the December LMHA President’s holiday message regarding the motion passed at last year’s Annual General Meeting to pursue a travel partnership with the AMHA
Dear Members of the LMHA:
Members of the Board of Directors of both the Amherstburg Minor Hockey Association and the Lasalle Minor Hockey Association recently met with representatives from the OMHA to review a draft document of the travel partnership between our 2 associations.
While the OMHA felt the draft proposal was carefully developed and well written, external factors such as how the proposed partnership would impact and align with other similar provincial initiatives including our geographic area needed further consultation and review. The OMHA has put a hold on the partnership with anticipation of further work on the initiative.
At this time the process is on hold and the travel program for 2020-2021 will remain status quo.
Keep in mind however that the naming of divisions is changing for next season (see previous message on the website). Regarding next steps, the following is a tentative timeline for the partnership:
ESTIMATED TIMELINE:
April – May 2020
Continue to refine partnership draft document
June 2020
Meet with OMHA at the OMHA Annual General Meeting in Toronto
July – August 2020
Further work and revisions on partnership draft document
September 2020
AMHA and LMHA present to each association’s Board of Directors for review
October 2020
Both the AMHA and LMHA to call an Additional General Meeting of the membership as per bylaws. The Draft Partnership Document will be the only agenda item and the document will be posted for member review 15 days prior to the meeting. The memberships of both associations must approve the motion at the October Additional General Meeting to move on the OMHA for final approval.
November –December 2020
Document submitted to OMHA pending approvals of both associations.
January –February 2021
OMHA review – approvals
April 2021
