The Sabres travelled to South Bend Indiana on Halloween weekend and played their best hockey of the young season.
In a very strong tournament the Sabres competed against teams from London, Pittsburgh, New York and Michigan. While the newly formed Sabres were just getting comfortable with each other, some of the team they were playing in their 29+ game of the season.
The coaching staff challenged the team to play loose, free and trust each other. The results on ice and off were fun to watch. the Sabres completed the weekend with a 1-1-2 record which was good for 3rd place overall.
Highlights of the weekend included some spectacular saves, inspiring defensive rushes and tic-tac-toe passing in the offensive zone. Some off ice highlights took place at the Notre Dame vs Michigan State hockey game as well as some team meals and tours of the campus.
As we begin league play this week we can't wait to see how the Sabres carry their weekend confidence into Bluewater against some tough local competition.
