PeeWee Minor AA Fall Colours Champions
The PeeWee Minor AA team, traveled to Ann Arbor, MI to participate in the Fall Colours tournament this past weekend. The Sabres played some of their best hockey of the season. The team battled hard and faced some tough competition on route to their first tournament win.
In the first game of the tournament Friday afternoon the Sabres got off to a great start but "American" rules of off-sides and icing got the best of them. Game 1 ending in 1-1 tie with the Markham Islanders.
Game 2 on Friday evening had the Sabres coming out strong defeating the Erie Lions 7-2.
Saturday afternoon had the Sabres playing against the Fort Wayne Force. With seconds left in the 2nd period, an injury to the Force goalie gave the Sabres a bit of a break so that the Force could suit up another goalie. With a scoreless third period the Sabres win 5-0.
A Saturday evening game had the Sabres playing a nail biter against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The game ending in a 1-1 tie.
The final game on Sunday afternoon, saw the Sabres playing against the Erie Force once again. Going up 4-0 in the first period, a scoreless 2nd and in the 3rd the Sabres increased their lead by 2 more goals to a final score of 6-1 securing the championship.
Congratulations Sabres, you earned it! Great contribution from all players showing true teamwork leading to a great victory!
