CONGRATULATIONS ATOM AE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
The Atom AE team travelled to Stoney Creek this past
weekend, to participate in the 34th annual Ace Bailey “AE” Tournament. The first
game on Friday, October 18th was a nail bitter resulting in a tie against
the Ajax Knights and taking us into two 3 on 3 one minute overtime plays
resulting in no score. Then a 1 vs 1 for
1 minute overtime period where the Sabres managed to get a breakaway with the
puck and scored for the win.
Our second game on Friday was an intense game against the home town Team, the Stoney Creek Warriors. The Sabres definitely stepped up their game. The game maintained a 0-0 scored for the majority of the third period. With less than 3 minutes left in the third period and expecting to go into overtime, the Sabres get their first goal. Last minute of the game, the Warriors pulled their Goalie and Sabres on a breakaway score on the empty net. Another win for the LaSalle Sabres.
On Saturday, the Sabres played another great game against the Oakridge Aeros. The boys played extremely well as a team with lots of great passes amongst each other. The LaSalle Sabres take the win with 5-0. The Sabres move on to the Round Robin Semi Finals. The team showed up with their Game faces during the elimination semi final game against the Ajax Knights. The Sabres worked hard together and showed determination to win this game. The team played hard and was very impressive winning the game 6-0. Moving to the final against Stoney Creek Warriors. It was going to be a tough challenge, the hometown team in their own rink, in their own tournament and the Sabres beating them in Friday’s game.
In the final, the Atom AE were strong on the puck and on their opponent, battling for every inch of the ice. Forward lines, defensive lines and goaltending were all firing with determination. The final score displayed: LaSalle Sabres Atom AE 3 Stoney Creek Warriors 2. The bench cleared in celebration as the LaSalle Sabres Atome AE were declared CHAMPIONS!
The Coaching Staff, parents, siblings and fans would like to congratulate all of the players of the Atom AE for a great show of perseverance and determination. Congratulations Atom AE, you deserve it and we are so proud of you!
