To the
parent and player of Bantam Minor:
I would
like to personally welcome each of you to the Bantam Minor AA tryouts. I welcome each player that has an aspiration
to play for this team and I welcome every parent that has dedicated so much
time and effort to provide a memorable experience for their child through the
game of hockey. My hope is that we build
a competitive team, but more important, that we as parents and coaches foster a
healthy active environment that develops not only quality hockey players, but
quality people, unforgettable experiences and skills essential for life success. These are stated goals of the LMHA and they
are the core goals of this team.
Aside from the mandatory checking clinic and goalie evaluations, there are four skates to these tryouts. The first two are focused on core skills and tactics and the last two are exhibition games against the Belle River Canadiens. Players are expected to attend all tryouts, but if for any reason you are unable to attend a tryout please send me an email via the LMHA website so I am aware of your situation. Please also check the website regularly for updates regarding players continuing on as well as players that are rostered for one or both games.
If you are released, remain positive, continue to work on your game and take pride in the fact you have competed. If you have been released, there will be opportunities for an Alternate Player (AP) status. This will be offered to players that went deep into tryouts. It is an excellent opportunity to practice and integrate with the team while increasing your skills, knowledge and drive. Details regarding APs will come after tryouts and I encourage any parent that wishes to leave contact information with me in regards to their son or daughter being an AP to do so on the sign in sheet. An email address will do.
Lastly, during the initial sign in, please indicate if you prefer trying out for forward, defence or both. I will consider your preference but please understand my goal is to field the best team possible and my expectation is that as a player you accept all challenges willingly, remain open and excel at whatever task you are asked to perform on the ice.
Listen carefully to instructions, show case your skills and enjoy the experience.
Sincerely, Mike Agostinis.
