PRESIDENT’S RETURN TO HOCKEY MESSAGE TO THE LASALLE HOCKEY COMMUNITY
Dear LMHA Members:

Thank you to the members who attended the ZOOM LMHA Annual General Meeting last Thursday evening. As indicated at the meeting, I informed the participants that I will be sending updated Return to Hockey documents from Hockey Canada, the Ontario Hockey Federation and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association.

These documents can be found by going to the COVID19 Related Documents library by clicking on the banner at the top of the screen, finding the library in the Libraries window to the right of the page, going to Documents and Resources, COVID19 Related Documents or by clicking here.

The OMHA has instructed hockey associations to move through the registration process without the charging of fees. Because we are under Ontario Emergency Orders and will be in the foreseeable future, we, as with all Ontario minor hockey associations, do not know for certain what minor hockey will look like in the Fall. We are aware that there are many questions and concerns regarding the structure and process for the Return to Hockey.

Members of the LMHA Board of Directors have been meeting with various partners regarding the OHF Return to Hockey Framework as follows:

OHF Return to Hockey Framework (documents posted on Website)

  • May 8 – Bluewater Meeting
  • May 29 with Town of LaSalle Recreation & Facilities Staff
  • June 2 with OMHA and OHF
  • June 4 with OHF and Hockey Canada
  • June 10 – Town of LaSalle Recreation & Facilities Staff
  • June 14 with OMHA on the Return to Hockey Framework

Many of the concerns and questions you have may be answered in the content of these documents. The OMHA has stated that there are no approved seasons for minor hockey in Ontario as of yet and none will be until a plan is approved by them and endorsed by the local health authority in partnership with the local municipal recreational facility and hockey associations. This will have to be coordinated with other municipalities and hockey associations within the district. A lot of work remains to be done as we are still under Ontario Emergency Orders.

The OMHA and Recreational Facilities around Ontario need to know what the registration numbers look like as it will form part of the planning for the future. As an association, we will continue to post relevant documents on our website and keep you informed throughout the process.

Sincerely,

Mike Seguin

President
